MacroHive named the most profitable sector of the cryptocurrency market in 2021
British think tank MacroHive has identified the cryptocurrency sector as significantly more profitable than the rest
She has developed 4 indices reflecting the most common uses for cryptoassets. Each of them (with the exception of BTC) consists of 5 cryptocurrencies representing the market value of a particular sector.
According to MacroHive, the most profitable sector was the metaverse:

The metaverse company index consists of Axie Infinity (a gaming project), The Sandbox (a virtual world project), Decentraland (a virtual reality platform), Enjin Coin (a gaming blockchain platform), and Gala (a player-driven blockchain platform).
The second most profitable area was the area of smart contracts, which includes Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, Avalanche and Polkadot. According to the company's calculations, this year this index has grown by 2355%.
Third on the list is the DeFi sector, which has grown 584% this year. Projects included in the index basket include Aave (credit protocol), Maker (stablecoin management platform), Compound (credit protocol), Uniswap (decentralized marketplace), and PancakeSwap (automated market maker).
